Wanderschuh mit Schmetterling

You may enter the forest provided you observe the following points:

  • Stay on the official paths.
  • Do not pick mushrooms or berries.
  • Do not touch wild animals or carcasses.
  • Please keep dogs on a leash.
  • Do not leave any food behind.
  • Close gates.

African swine fever (ASF) is not dangerous to humans. Dogs, cats and horses cannot contract the disease either, but they can spread the pathogen via their shoes, tyres, paws or baskets.
These measures apply in ASF restricted zone 2. The zones can be viewed on the official map. Frequently asked questions are answered on the Olpe district website.

Bat tunnel closed

The ‘bat tunnel’, part of the SauerlandRadring cycle route between Finnentrop-Fehrenbracht and Eslohe-Kückelheim, is closed every year at the end of October. After that, the animals that gave the Kückelheim tunnel its name can move back into the 689-metre-long tube to hibernate undisturbed for a good five months. A winter detour is signposted.
