>> Rapidly changing weather, thick clouds, low sun, fog and showers, frost and snow as reflectors, plays of colour in the clouds and, of course, the long, blue twilight with warm artificial light:
that's winter light! <<

Capture the winter light
Photographer Klaus-Peter Kappest has embarked on a ‘hunt for winter light’ and captured magical moments in the Sauerland hiking villages with his camera. In addition to the play of light in nature, they atmospherically convey the cosy comfort, winter experiences and warming moments of enjoyment.
Hikes through valleys where no human sound can be heard. Views from towers that look far across the countryside. Village hospitality in picturesque half-timbered villages, culinary delights in a rustic hut atmosphere. And last but not least, food for the soul: art, chamber music, fireside chats. Every Sauerland hiking village has special highlights to offer, but they all have one thing in common: they provide experiences that linger long in the memory.
In Lennestadt & Kirchhundem, we were able to capture these experiences in four special places with Klaus-Peter Kappest. Towers with their impressive views, cultural sites with cosy restaurants and a very special place for the soul in the Schwarzbachtal nature reserve – pure impressions!
>> ‘Winter is no fun without snow.’ What a mistake! In the Sauerland-Wanderdorfs, there is much more to discover in winter than just culture and gastronomy. Even nature is worth experiencing during these supposedly dreary months – if you are in the right place at the right time of day.
Achieving this is the pursuit of winter light.' <<
