Rothaarsteig

Rothaarsteig

The premium hiking trail ‘Rothaarsteig’ – also known as the ‘Path of the Senses’ – runs 154 kilometres along the ridge of the Rothaar Mountains and connects Brilon in the north of the Sauerland with Dillenburg at the foot of the Westerwald. Its hallmarks are uninterrupted views, a varied route, its own forest furniture and reliable hiking markings.

The Rothaarsteig trail crosses the Lennestadt & Kirchhundem hiking region over a distance of around 20 kilometres, taking you through impressive nature reserves and to informative experience stations.

Our tip:

The enchanting landscape of the Heinsberg Heath (Haberg Nature Reserve) is an insider tip and an experience for all the senses, especially in the early morning hours of late summer. In the Schwarzbach Valley, the diverse meadow landscape along the structurally rich stream invites you to embark on a journey of discovery and take a refreshing break. For nature lovers of all ages, the limnological trail offers interesting insights into life in and around the stream.
